ROGER FEDERER v LLEYTON HEWITT

6-3, 6-4, 7-6

Federer showed the world that he is still the best tennis player on the planet.  Hewitt came out full of his usual grit and determination in another attempt to dethrone the reining king of grass.   But Federer's mastery was once again too much to overcome as Hewitt ran down ball after ball and even played a great net game, only to suffer another defeat.  Hewitt ran all over the court chasing down shots and even coming into net, but Federer was just too strong and displayed his usual elegance, lightning quickness, and casual grace on the court.

There are times when the odd genius arrives that elevates the entire craft, and Federer has elevated tennis to a realm where competition is irrelevant, where he has nothing to prove - except that he is a genius. He seems to be playing not so much to beat opponents, but to find perfection within himself.

Hewitt provided great effort but will have to wait for another time in hopes of Federer having an off day.  Unfortunately for the Aussie, it appears that Lleyton always brings out Roger's very best!
