2005 NASDAQ-100 Open
Federer v Agassi
A warm, humid evening at Key Biscayne, Florida are just the conditions Agassi likes best. He was playing in a tournament he has won six times, on the hardcourt surface he likes best. And a capacity stadium crowd chanted his name, rooting for an upset.
Agassi had played Federer several times in the past few years without a victory, but showed a gutty determination to try for the win this time. Agassi even deployed a 1-handed slice backhand to keep himself in several points. This was one of the new tactics he had been practicing for the next encounter with current best player in the world.
A much improved effort by Andre, but every time he got a break chance, Roger would smack an ace to thwart him. Federer ran his record to 7-3 against the legendary Agassi, which includes a string of seven straight matches.
