2006 PACIFIC LIFE OPEN

JAMES BLAKE v IGOR ANDREEV

6-1,6-4

James Blake came into the match with a 9 match win streak and seemed very pumped up to make it 10 wins in a row.

He was bristling with energy even in warmups and eager to start the match.

Andreev didn't know what hit him, but it only took about 20 minutes

and an inspired Blake was up a set.  In a match that was billed as a battle of two giant forehands,

Blake was just too much for the Russian.

With the win, Blake is guaranteed to move up from #14 to inside the top 10 in the ATP point standings.

His quick win leaves him rested for the SF.  He will need all of his strength and stamina for his next match...

against "el toro" Rafael Nadal.

Andy Roddick was probably watching the match wondering how Blake could dismantle the opponent that gave him so much trouble.

Blake's game is head and shoulders above the former #1, and Roddick would be wise to train with Blake this summer.
