2006 WIMBLEDON

Doubles Final

B. BRYAN / M. BRYAN v SANTORO / ZIMONJIC

6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2

The top seeded Americans completed their career grand slam by winning the final at Wimbledon, adding to earlier titles at the French Open (2003), the U.S. Open (2005) and the Australian Open (2006). The impressive Bryan twins were making their seventh consecutive appearance in a major final, extending their Open Era record, and have now won three out of the last four Grand Slam doubles finals.

Bob Bryan had less than an hour before he was back on the court to compete for the mixed doubles championship which he and Venus Williams ended up losing.

But the Bryan brothers got the trophy they wanted the most.  They attacked their smaller opponent's serve, Santoro, while exploiting their bigger opponent's lack of agility, making Zimonjic lunge and dive for volleys.
