2007  FRENCH OPEN

                RAFAEL NADAL       v           NOVAK DJOKOVIC

7-5 6-4 6-2

Rafael Nadal, the 2 time champion at Roland Garros, continued his quest for his 3rd consecutive French Open title with his victory over the young Serbian that has charging

up the ATP rankings.  Nadal raced to a big lead in the first set, but Djokovic showed he was ready to compete as he battled back to even the first set at 5-5.

But the physical toll of competing against Nadal eventually wore Djokovic down.  Nadal has no weak side, as he is a natural right hander that plays with a left handed forehand,

that makes his backhand just as dangerous.  He can hit with pace, with spin, and with tremendous angles that make his opponents chase down shots from side to side.  Once he

tires them out, he can either blast a winner, or slice a cruel back-spinning drop shot that leaves opponents flat footed and helpless.

By the start of the third set the physical punishment of facing Nadal had taken its toll on Djokovic and the match slipped away in two hours and 28 minutes.
"He's the best player in the world on this surface," Djokovic said of Nadal. "He's physically stronger than any other player on the tour.
"Today was my first semi-final of a Grand Slam ever in my career, and I think I played really well. I have time, I'm only 20. I'm really happy with my performance."
