                     ROGER FEDERER      v      DAVID NALBANDIAN

5-7, 6-2, 6-2

Roger Federer rallied from a set down to defeat David Nalbandian 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 yesterday and advance to the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters.
Federer remains on course for a third straight final against three-time defending champion Rafael Nadal, who beat No. 5 David Ferrer of Spain 6-1, 7-5.
“The level of play was excellent today,” Federer said.
“Tough rallies. I think I definitely played my best match of the tournament, no doubt.”
The top-ranked Swiss player was shaky in the first set before dominating the next two
and breaking Nalbandian’s serve five times in five chances, including the first match point.
“It’s always nice playing against him,” Federer said. “Because of the great player he is. He’s (a) wonderful ball striker.”
